JYJ’s Foreign Fans, “Unilateral Cancelation of Broadcast, Disrespect toward Viewers”

Upon the cancelation of group JYJ’s reality show programme, [foreign] fans are expressing intense dissatisfaction.

On March 2nd, these fans stated, “QTV’s behavior is unprofessional, irresponsible and unacceptably disrespectful to its viewers”, revealing their deep dissatisfaction at the situation.

The continued, “QTV’s actions represent contempt toward the Korean court and law, which has confirmed JYJ’s rights to engage in entertainment activities.”

Following is the official statement by JYJ’s [foreign] fans regarding QTV’s cancellation:

The international consumers of the Korean Wave and supporters of group JYJ (Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu) would like to express our profound disappointment at the conduct of cable channel QTV. Yesterday, March 1st, 2011, QTV announced that it had cancelled JYJ’s reality show, JYJ’s Real24, after creating significant reliance interests for viewers by advertising through multiple channels that it would air the show within February. QTV’s behavior is unprofessional, irresponsible and unacceptably disrespectful to its viewers and the laws of its own country.

On February 28th, over 86,000 international consumers of the Korean Wave signed and submitted a petition to the Korean Fair Trade Commission and the Seoul Central District Court. The Korean court has ordered that JYJ’s right to engage in entertainment activities without interference be honored. As the Petition noted, entities such as S.M. Entertainment, KMP Holdings, KEPA, and KFPCAI have openly and repeatedly violated the orders of its own court. QTV’s recent cancellation is one more incident to add to the long list of violations and shows that the Republic of Korea must take action against such unashamed disregard for her laws. We the international consumers of the Korean Wave reiterate our unwavering support for JYJ and urge their nation to secure justice for her own citizens or else risk forever marring her cultural products with the stigma of human rights violations.

  2. TVDaily is always the first one who step up to spread the news about jyj and us right?
wonder how big TVDaily’s effect in korea?
hope QTV got what they deserved. T___T

    • This article was transferred to Nate where it reached the front page of their entertainment news section. As you might know, Nate and Naver are THE places that Korean netizens get their news. As a result, I hear it reached #4 in number of hits today. ^^

      • Thank you for your information. I’ve been always wondering what Nate and Naver are because we’ve got many news translated from them ^^

      • Jimmie-dear, is this in any connection to the K-fans’ plans about how to take care of QTV’s disrespectful actions or not yet?

      • @Sammie

No…this has no connection to the K-fans’ plans. To be honest, I and people active on The JYJ Files issued the statement on the cuff on behalf of international fans. Since there were already a slew of articles on the korean public’s reaction, why not one on the foreign reaction?

      • @Jimmie
I just read your comment now… LOL
Yeah… I agree. And now we/Int’l fans have definitely gathered some attention to make them listen, yes? ^__^ (Not to mention the latest news about our petition today on Chosun Ilbon.)

  3. ¡How disrespectful! QTV is showing its contempt towards us, foreign fans, and against Korean laws. ¿Who the hell do they think they are? ¿When do these despicable and unfair actions will come to an end?

  4. [Hồng]
    Stupid !!! Liar !!!
It would be better if they just kept apologize and shut their mouths up!
That childish excuse, how can we accept it?
I wasn’t really mad because they canceled the show (it could be predicted). I was (and am) mad because of their VERY UNPROFESSIONAL EXCUSE. >”<
"Can't arrange the showtime" ? Ack!

  5. Go ahead and spead the news~!!!
Just keep on fighting for JYJ and for change!
    GAHHH~
I hope that when SME falls, they hit the ground hard!!!

  6. I agreed that QTV’s behavior is unprofessional, irresponsible and unacceptably disrespectful to its viewers and the laws of its own country. The Korean court has ordered that JYJ’s right to engage in entertainment activities without interference be honored. This time QTV had cancelled JYJ’s reality show (now there is an internet connect the whole worldwide to see the program and shows which are under a transperent situation , no secret …. not only in your own country) , it shows that the Republic of Korea must take action against such unashamed disregard for her laws. Such a famous and successful developement of entertainment business country in the world , why they can allow this kind of rediculous behavior happened ? It caused a very bad effect for their international image and showed their country is a uncivil society . It’s a very important problem for Korea to secure justice for her own citizens (JYJ) and the stigma of human rights violations.

  7. This lawsuit is quickly turning into:
    JYJ VS KOREA!
However, after that, it will probably become more international than it is now, especially if the foreign fans get involved.. 🙂

  8. Although sudden cancellations continue to happen, such as the case with QTV, I am not just sitting around and letting this happen. At the very least, I have to voice my protest. I emailed QYV and launched an official protest showing my disappointment and anger at their action. I had a hard time using their “Contact Us” link so I just used one of the email addresses that was listed on the Contact page. Hopefully it will find its way to the “right” people. If anyone has a better way to communicate with QTV, I would love to know. QTV needs to know that this is unacceptable on so many levels. I hope everyone also intends to let QTV know that this lame excuse is fooling no one!

  9. Maybe a naive question, but, is it possible that Korean fans may file a complaint against QTV with the consumer affairs department in Korea?

QTV said they never schedule a date for the show, but, it has been promoting the show to be air in February, right? So cancellation of the show is cheating the consumers/subscribers of the channel.

    Just a thought.

  10. My honest concern’s can’t believe any Korean media.
    Because their almost every TV Station,KEPA ,KFPCAI,SM,JYP,YG + ETAL 7, politics .
This number’s almost all Koreans entertainment and media.
Poor JYJ, I’m really upset to Korea, I wish everybody stand-up and fight for Human Rights! And Japanese avex makes me more up-set. Ty

  11. Slowly Avex start doing for the JYJ(Oricon reject JYJ’s music). Finally people understand SM/Avex’s they’re two of a kind. SM/Avex had a own contract for them leave out JYJ(3 boys)just like a irrelevant items, that why no matter between avex/JYJ no more relationship but avex still selling JYJ’s CD/DVD 2011!
We’re International JYJ’s Fans,we go claim SM/Avex :The United National Commission of International Trade Law(UNCITRAL) ! This’s I fill like now. Ty
